Matt Golden
Matt Golden's sculptural practice involves a number of processes that examine the de-construction of forms and their subsequent re-construction, opening up numerous possibilities for interpretation. With an interest in how to 'frame' sculpture within the world, he appropriates everyday objects and materials, which result in sculptural pieces that explore themes of reality and invention. The finished compositions are what Golden refers to as 'expanded sculpture'. A culmination of the objects past and present, they are a slight shift away from their former selves yet they are made only from themselves. These poetic transactions are subtle shifts in the object's anatomy yet completely transform our stability of perception.
Born in 1974 in Salisbury. Lives and works in London.
